Llys Mair – shop/café

Mary Jones (Anti Mair) and her husband, Evan, owned Llys Mair. She was the daughter of the family of Tŷ Uchaf, Nant Gwrtheyrn. She sold essential goods, like butter, milk, sugar, and bread and ran a small café. She had a ‘Teas with Hovis’ sign in the garden. One day, a customer passed by and asked for a Hovis sandwich. Anti Mair didn’t have a Hovis loaf in that day. The customer went off to complain about her to Hovis, as he was employed by them!!
