The Cobbler’s shack

William Crydd had a bad stammer. Some remember popping into the cozy shack (opposite where the old Stôr used to be) on a miserable day. The lads from the village came here to learn to smoke and play brag pontoon for money. At the start of the 20th century, the cobbler was a very good storyteller and poet, and his shack became a cultural centre for the villagers in those days, to discuss the big news stories of the day.
